Dubai Police receives Ambassador Soodhun

The Dubai Police General Command has recently received His Excellency Showkutally Soodhun, non-resident Ambassador of Mauritius who paid a courtesy visit in order to strengthen mutual cooperation between both sides.

His Excellency  Major General Expert Khalil Ibrahim Al Mansouri, Assistant Commander-in-Chief for Criminal Investigation Affairs, received the Ambassador and his accompanying delegation in the presence of: Brigadier Mohammed Rashid bin Sariea Al Muhairi, Deputy Director of the General Department of Criminal Investigation for Administrative and Monitoring Affairs; Brigadier Expert Ahmed Mattar Al Muhairi, Deputy Director of the General Department of Forensics and Criminology; and a number of senior officers and officials.

Al Mansouri discussed with the guest Ambassador some topics of common interest, and explored ways of cooperation between the two sides. He also emphasized the keenness of Dubai Police on ensuring the safety and security of all communities and nationalities in Dubai.

During the visit, the non-resident Ambassador of Mauritius and the accompanying delegation toured at the Dubai Police mini-exhibition of Forensics that comprises all disciplines of forensic science, and highlights the most important technical and specialized capabilities of the department, in addition to its future projects.

HE Showkutally Soodhun and the delegation were also briefed on the various services provided by the Smart Police Station (SPS) during a visit to the SPS – Dubai Police General HQ branch. The SPS is located at several locations across Dubai, and is open 24/7 to offer 27 key services, such as reporting crimes and traffic incidents, as well as a further 33 community-based services, which range from obtaining a good-conduct certificate to social support for victims of family violence.

HE Showkutally Soodhun and the accompanying delegation expressed their highly admiration with latest technologies applied by Dubai Police in the fields of combating crime, maintaining public order, and ensuring the safety, security and happiness of all community members.

Ambassador Soodhun on Sunday 5 April 2021 also met His Excellency Walid bin Abdul Karim Al-Khuraiji, the Saudi vice-minister of Foreign Affairs. The minister dispelled all rumours that Ambassador Soodhun was declared ‘persona non-grata’ in Saudi Arabia. HE Showkutally Soodhun made a request to the Kingdom to assist Mauritius in the fight against Covid-19. Consequently, Mauritius will benefit from a donation of equipment worth 500,000 USD.
